Contents
Activities that do not add value for the customer are a waste. We distinguish 7 + 1 TYPES OF WASTE
- 1OVER-PRODUCTION - production exceeding current requirements
- 2MOTION - unnecessary motion, searching for components, tools, documentation
- 3WAITING - downtimes due to missing or defect material, machine breakdown
- 4OVER-PROCESSING - doing of complicated or wrong processes
- 5DEFECTS - production of defect parts, repairs - same work is performed multiple times
- 6TRANSPORTATION - useless transportation from one point to another
- 7INVENTORY - unnecessary high level of inventory
- 8UNUSED HUMAN POTENTIAL - unimplemented ideas from people
